Biography

Kyle Preston has been arguably the most exciting addition to the Lions team in many years. His exceptional pace and speed & accuracy of pass off both hands have become stand out features. He has scored some remarkable tries, none more prominent than the extra time thriller vs Bay Plenty in the round-robin phase in last year’s NPC. His combination with teammate Callum Harkin from Old Boys-University was a key ingredient in their Jubilee Cup winning 2024 season and this has transitioned to NPC level Rugby. It was a surprise to his growing legion of fans when the Hurricanes did not pick him up for 2025, but it did not surprise them when he started his time with the Crusaders with a hattrick on debut and taking out the Rookie of the Year award for them.
