Don’t miss the Wellington Lions’ opening clash of the season against our rivals and neighbours, the Hawke's Bay Magpies. Join us with our match day partner PCL for what promises to be a thrilling start to the campaign.

It's Old Timers Day — an opportunity to celebrate the legends who have shaped our game, left a lasting legacy, and made a profound impact on rugby and our wider community.

To honour our Old Timers, we encourage fans to wear their retro or vintage jerseys — whether club, school, or representative and proudly #WearYourHistory.

We will also commemorate the remarkable service of Major William James Hardham VC — Wellington Rugby representative, member of the original Wellington team that won the Ranfurly Shield in 1904, and Victoria Cross recipient. His courage and sacrifice are enduring part of the region's rugby heritage.

We will also recognise the links between Wellington and Hawke's Bay and the Battle of Chunuk Bair, fought on 8 August 1915, one of New Zealand's most significant actions at Gallipoli, where soldiers and former players from both provinces played a pivotal role in one of the defining battles of the campaign.
