WRFU Thanks Health NZ for 2026 Support

Wellington Rugby is proud to recognise and thank Health New Zealand (Health NZ) for another season of valued support of the Wellington Lions and Wellington Pride.

Throughout the 2026 season, Health NZ continued its partnership with Wellington Rugby, using the connection with both teams to promote healthier choices, stronger communities and conversations around reducing alcohol-related harm.

A key part of the partnership this season was the promotion of Gotchu, an important part of the Health NZ alcohol harm prevention messaging. The Gotchu logo featured prominently on the playing shorts of both the Wellington Lions and Wellington Pride throughout their 2026 campaigns.

Gotchu reinforces the wider kaupapa of Health NZ’s Sport & Alcohol Programme – Breaking the Link by encouraging people to look out for one another and supporting positive choices around alcohol, wellbeing and connection.

WRFU CEO Tony Giles says Wellington Rugby greatly values the continued relationship with Health NZ.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Health NZ for their continued support of both the Lions and Pride this season.”

“Having Gotchu represented on both teams’ playing shorts gave us an opportunity to help amplify an important message throughout the season. Rugby brings people and communities together, and partnerships like this allow us to use that connection to support positive conversations around wellbeing and healthier choices.”

The partnership reflects Wellington Rugby’s ongoing commitment to making a positive impact beyond the field and supporting environments where people, whānau and communities can thrive.
