Wellington Rugby Award Nominees Announced

The annual Wellington Rugby awards are being held at Te Papa next week, with a number of hotly contested categories in the line-up.

The union has for the first time introduced awards for both the men’s and women’s Sevens Player of the Year, given the incredible work, development, and form being shown by a number of coaches and players in this category.

Wellington Rugby have today announced the award nominees, with the Wellington Pride and their coach James Porter up for gongs, along with Wellington Lions captain Ardie Savea, break-out star Vaea Fifita, and Old Boys University coach Jeremy Little all in the running.

Wellington Rugby chief executive Steve Rogers said the awards evening was a great opportunity to recognise the hard work and achievements of those who contribute to rugby in Wellington.

“There are a huge amount of people who give up their time to ensure rugby remains strong in the province, whether that’s through coaching, administration or performance. This is a great way for us to acknowledge and celebrate that hard work, and we look forward to announcing the winners next week.”
